What exactly is a fractional COO?

A senior operator who owns your operation one to two days a week: supply chain, freight, fulfilment, inventory and suppliers, with accountability for the results. Not an advisor with a deck.

Are you a supply chain consultant or a fractional COO?

Both, and the distinction that matters is a different one: advisor versus operator. A typical supply chain consultant diagnoses and hands you a report. We diagnose, then run the fix inside your business. Consultants diagnose. We operate.

What does the supply chain audit include?

Freight and landed cost, fulfilment and 3PL contracts, inventory and demand planning, suppliers, and catalogue economics, every finding quantified and source traced. Fixed fee, two to three weeks, credited in full against your first month if we go on to fix what we find.

How much does a fractional COO cost?

US market retainers run $5,000 to $12,000 a month for most engagements, reaching $18,000 for heavier ones, against a full time COO's true employer cost of $280,000 to $320,000 a year. Every engagement starts with the audit, which funds itself through the credit.

What size brand do you work with?

Consumer brands doing $5M to $50M. Below roughly $4M, hold off: the founder plus discipline can usually carry it, and the fee is better spent on stock.

Can you help us renegotiate or leave our 3PL?

Yes, and usually in that order. We audit the invoices against the contract, benchmark your rate card against live market quotes, and renegotiate with numbers in hand. When the relationship is genuinely broken, we plan and run the migration without customer facing disruption.

Do you handle tariff refunds?

Yes. The 2025 tariffs were ruled unlawful and refunds are being processed now, but they are claimed, not sent, and for brands that shipped DDP the money often sits with the forwarder rather than the brand. We confirm your position and run the recovery on contingency.

Do we have to commit to a full fractional COO engagement?

No. The audit is a standalone product, projects are scoped with an end date, and the ecommerce operations consultant engagement gives you senior direction without execution. Every door works on its own.
